Payments

Specify pays publishers with a two-part model: a guaranteed base CPM on every impression, plus a revenue share that scales with how well your users convert.

The combined rate is what we call your effective CPM (eCPM) — and it’s where the upside is.

Understanding CPM and eCPM

CPM (cost per mille) is the industry-standard unit for ad pricing — the amount paid per 1,000 impressions. A $10 CPM means $10 for every 1,000 impressions served.

eCPM (effective CPM) is what you actually earn per 1,000 impressions once everything is combined — base CPM plus any revenue share. It’s the number that matters when comparing networks.

On Specify:

eCPM = Base CPM + Revenue Share earned per 1,000 impressions

A publisher with strong conversion performance earns an eCPM many times the base rate. The base is the floor; the share is where good inventory gets rewarded.

Base payment

$10 CPM, guaranteed for every approved publisher regardless of conversion performance.

This is the floor. Even if a particular week’s impressions don’t convert well, the base is still paid. You’re never earning zero on inventory you’ve shown.

Revenue share

Revenue share is layered on top of the base, and is tiered based on your impression-to-conversion rate — the percentage of impressions that result in an attributed conversion.

TierImpression-to-Conversion RateRevenue ShareEffective CPM (estimate)

20.10%5%$11
30.25%25%$23
40.50%30%$40
50.70%35%$59
5+1.00% (and above)35%$80+

Two things to notice:

  • The jumps are non-linear. Moving from Tier 2 to Tier 3 roughly doubles your eCPM. Moving from Tier 4 to Tier 5+ doubles it again. Small improvements in conversion performance compound into large revenue changes
  • The top tier keeps climbing. Tier 5+ is uncapped — publishers with genuinely exceptional conversion rates continue to earn more as their performance climbs above 1%

Payment processing

Payments are processed monthly.

  • You receive a payment slip via email and in your dashboard at the end of each billing period
  • Payments are made within 30 days of the slip being issued
  • You can choose between bank transfer or crypto, configurable in your dashboard

Real-time reporting

You don’t have to wait for the end of the month to see how you’re doing.

All impressions and conversions are available to view in real time in your publisher dashboard. Current eCPM, tier progression, and earnings-to-date are all live.

Auditability

Everything is auditable.

Publishers get the same level of transparency we give advertisers — every impression served, every conversion attributed, every wallet grouped. If a conversion was counted toward your revenue share, you can see the user, the transactions, and the onchain evidence behind it.

Nothing is hidden behind a black-box reporting model. If we say you earned it, you can verify it yourself.
